SUMMARY:Night (and Day) at the Museum 2025
DESCRIPTION:3-day\, family friendly\, indoor/outdoor event in Darlington’s Veterans Park on Main Street and in the Lafayette County Historical and Genealogy Society Museum at 525 Main Street. This is a celebration of Lafayette County’s history and people including historical re-enactors portraying specific figures significant to the past\, Fur Trade Era Encampment\, Civil War Artillery Unit (cannons)\, Civil War Cavalry Unit (horse)\, and special displays including a quilt show\, and ancient artifacts. There will be hands-on activities including archery\, shooting\, tomahawk throwing and more. Food will include Darlington Optimist Club Cheese Curds\, Lions Club Brat Stand and Lucky Cow Coffee and Gelato Treats. School groups are encouraged to attend on Friday and LCHGS can pay for the transportation. Saturday there are two live music events: The First Brigade Band (historically accurate Civil War Band) will play from 1:30 to 3pm and local favorites The Blackbridge Boys will play starting at 6pm\, a blend of many types of music. \nThe event is free to attend (donations accepted) and there is ample parking. DESCRIPTION:This is a national day of remembrance for all prisoners of war/missing in action soldiers\, sailors and airmen. Celebrated every year on the third Friday in September. This year we are honored to have former prisoner of war Mike Lenker of Beloit participating along with Gold Star mothers who lost a son in the Vietnam War. This is the 30th year the Veterans group Vietnam2Now is hosting this event. The Rockford Wind Ensemble will be providing the music and nationally recognized vocalist Jodi Beach will be singing a number of patriotic tunes. The featured speaker is Calvin Johnson of Beloit whose topic is Patriotism in America Today. The event is free\, small flags and wrist bands are free and pizza and other refreshments are courtesy of many Rockford businesses. The event takes place at the Loves Park City Hall auditorium September 19 at 7 PM.

SUMMARY:Night (and Day) at the Museum 2025
DESCRIPTION:3-day\, family friendly\, indoor/outdoor event in Darlington’s Veterans Park on Main Street and in the Lafayette County Historical and Genealogy Society Museum at 525 Main Street. This is a celebration of Lafayette County’s history and people including historical re-enactors portraying specific figures significant to the past\, Fur Trade Era Encampment\, Civil War Artillery Unit (cannons)\, Civil War Cavalry Unit (horse)\, and special displays including a quilt show\, and ancient artifacts. There will be hands-on activities including archery\, shooting\, tomahawk throwing and more. Food will include Darlington Optimist Club Cheese Curds\, Lions Club Brat Stand and Lucky Cow Coffee and Gelato Treats. School groups are encouraged to attend on Friday and LCHGS can pay for the transportation. Saturday there are two live music events: The First Brigade Band (historically accurate Civil War Band) will play from 1:30 to 3pm and local favorites The Blackbridge Boys will play starting at 6pm\, a blend of many types of music. \nThe event is free to attend (donations accepted) and there is ample parking.
