DESCRIPTION:PLEASE HELP! Keep the Sugar River Sweet & Clean\n>>>VOLUNTEER ON SAT. MAY 17th<<<\nDo you love the Sugar River? Do you like to see it clean of refuse or full of trash? Do you like it full of dangerous treefalls or safe for our kids to navigate? If your answer to these questions is yes\, then why not come out and join us on Saturday May 17th from 9am-4pm at our annual Sugar River Cleanup! We will have canoes available to use so basically it’s a FREE Canoe Trip where all you have to do is pick up trash or clear branches. Shuttle service will be provided. The Lake Winnetka Sugar River Improvement Association Inc. will hold its annual Sugar River cleanup in Albany WI. On Saturday May 17th 2025 from 9 am to 4 pm. We will meet at the Albany American Legion Hall @ 300 N Water St. Our goal is to remove as much garbage as possible from the river & its banks & also to clear a path through fallen trees that totally block navigation of canoes & create hazards. Categories of work vary from walking the banks or riding in canoes\, kayaks or boats & picking up trash or cutting tree branches & handing them to people on shore. Please indicate the category of work you’d like to do when you register on our pre-registration page. Equipment needed is canoes or small boats\, chain saws\, bow saws & waders. The association will provide trash bags & local businesses will provide food & refreshments. We will get organized at 9am & begin cleaning up at 10am or sooner\, however\, a representative will be on premise at the Legion to direct those who want to come later. Students and scouts can earn community service points by helping out. PLEASE VOLUNTEER your help or equipment. DESCRIPTION:Watch for a sign on Cleophas Road; then drive south down a short dirt road and meet on the north edge of the woods.\nAndrone Woods is a 16-acre woodland parcel owned by the Green Rock Audubon Society. Because it was never used for grazing\, along with GRAS habitat restoration efforts\, this site still contains abundant displays of many different spring woodland wildflowers. Common species include False Solomon’s Seal and\nWild Geranium\, and the woods contain Trilliums\, Orchids\, and ferns that are now considered rare species.\nThis event is free and open to the public.
