A proposal to put Rock County sales tax dollars into a fund for parks projects clears the board of supervisors.
Contributions for the next three budget years will total $500,000 with $300,000 deposits to follow every year. Annual sales tax revenues in recent years have been in the neighborhood of $20 million.
Passage came Thursday night after Supervisor Mike Schwarz proposed tabling the resolution. When that failed, he offered an amendment to provide $350,000 contributions in each of the next three years and eliminate the recurring deposits after that. The board voted those changes down.
Before the vote, parks Director John Traynor told the board that future use of the funding would be subject to the county’s purchasing policies and committee and board approval of future capital improvement plans.
The final vote on the resolution was 18-9 in favor.
