A 34-year-old Beloit man charged with child sex crimes in two counties waives his right to a preliminary hearing in Rock County Court.
Town of Geneva police say Cody Hubanks began messaging who he thought was a 14-year-old girl on Facebook, and sending inappropriate messages and photos of himself.
He traveled to Walworth County for a supposed in-person meeting but was arrested during a traffic stop in the township and taken to the county jail in Elkhorn.
Hubanks was charged in Rock County Court with four counts of causing a child to view sexual activity, three counts of soliciting an intimate representation from a minor, and threats to communicate derogatory information.
According to the criminal complaint, Hubanks was messaging numerous teenagers online, sending them explicit messages and pictures, and threatening to hack their phones and release all of their personal information if they didn’t send him pictures.
According to online court records, Hubanks served jail time after he was found guilty of having sex with a child 16 or older in 2018. He was 26 at the time.
Hubanks is currently being held in the Walworth County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
