Authorities link tens of thousands of depictions of child sexual assault materials to a Whitewater man.
The Whitewater Police Department says officers arrested Cody J. Pierson, 39, as the result of a complex investigation that involved widespread illegal activity on the dark web.
Police say detectives recovered more than 114,000 images and recordings of child porn and identified more than 4,700 victims.
Walworth County prosecutors are charging Pierson with 20 counts of possession of child pornography and 20 counts of child sexual exploitation.
Whitewater police say Janesville’s electronic device sniffing dog Maui assisted with the investigation.
