Rock County Christian School has put in an offer to buy the former McNeel Middle School building.
The School District of Beloit and its board of education have been holding closed-session discussions on multiple offers to buy the vacant facility on the city’s west side.
Rock County Christian’s school board vice president Matt Finnegan confirmed RCCS was one of the bidders.
He says the K-through-12 private school has been trying to consolidate its operations under one roof for years. They have a little more than 200 students in two school buildings. One is near Beloit College and the other is in the town of Rock, just south of the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport. RCCS also has a separate central office building near the Beloit school campus.
Finnegan says consolidation would save the school money, save families time, and give teachers and students more space.
Another closed-session meeting of the Beloit School Board to discuss offers for the McNeel building is scheduled Tuesday night.
