HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

Hall of Fame boys high school basketball coach

Jerry Petitgoue passed away today (Saturday) at

the age of 84. That word comes from his son who

shared the information on social media. Petitgoue

coached for 60 years in Wisconsin, 52 seasons

at Cuba City. He is the winningest coach in

Wisconsin basketball history.

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL

The Dakota Indians ran into one of the top teams in the state

and lost to Kazey Westfield 10-0 in the 3rd place game at the 

Illinois Girls Class 1A state softball tournament in Peoria.

Dakota got outhit 12-4, committed four errors defensively

and got shutout for the first time since May of 2024.

Jersey Banks had two of Dakota’s 4 hits. The Indians 

finished the year with a record of 24-and-7 and brought

home the first softball state trophy in program history.

In the 3rd place game of the Illinois Girls Class 2A state

softball tournament, North Boone defeated Auburn 1-0.

in Division-3 in the Shot Put. Jonah Wortman

of Sugar River placed seventh in the

Wheelchair 100 Meters, 6th in the 400 Meters,

and fifth in the Wheelchair 800 Meters).**
