Big Radio Account Executive

Internship requirements:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Internships require an applicant to receive academic credit for the internship - it is the applicant's responsibility to set up the internship with their school.
  • Internships may require working up to 30 hours per week, and may include nights and weekends.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Other requirements may vary based on internship position.

Broadcast Engineer


Location: South Central Wisconsin & Northern Illinois (10 stations)


This position is responsible for day-to-day and long-term engineering and technical operations, including towers, RF transmitters, on-air studio operations, automation systems, and all other related broadcast operating systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Identifies, analyzes, and trouble shoots problems or issues related to engineering, including studio and transmitter problems in a timely and effective manner.
  • Works with and provides direction to employees and others on solutions.
  • Provides hands-on support as needed.
  • Consults and collaborates with Head Engineer on long-term and short-term engineering objectives, goals, and action plans.
  • Executes engineering objectives, goals, and action plans and is held accountable for results.
  • Studies and plans for future station engineering needs.
  • Obtains knowledge of and applies as needed all current FCC rules and regulations ensuring that all stations are compliant with FCC rules and regulations at all times.
  • Perform regular maintenance on all broadcast equipment as well as preventative maintenance. This includes performing regular software and hardware updates.

Desired Requirements and/or Skills:


  • Associate or bachelor degree, or equivalent experience and/or certification, in broadcast electronics, telecommunications, IT, or related field.
  • Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems.
  • Compelling detail orientation with strong attention to accuracy and problem solving, following up until issues are resolved.
  • Capable of reading and understanding schematics and technical manuals in order to effectively follow installation instructions.
  • Ability to function in a team environment yet be able to work as an individual contributor.
  • Work well under pressure.
  • Available to work an established schedule along with short notice situations including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends to support a 24/7 operation.
  • Possess computer network or network security knowledge and training.
  • Familiarity with AoIP and VoIP technologies
  • Knowledge of audio software and applications.
  • Valid drivers license with no restrictions.
